When it comes to driving I was definitely a late starter, whilst all my friends were driving around I was still relying on them for lifts or the good old public transport to get me around. Driving was one of those things that never really interested me. But, after I got my first job learning to drive became a priority – public transport was just too unreliable.

I passed my driving test on my 3rd attempt at the ripe old age of 25! My first car was a VW Polo that my dad sourced out for me from a used VW dealer in London. It was my first love, a light blue 1995 Polo Match with a dent in the boot. It was a good car to me, never let me down, never needed big repairs and gave me the freedom I never knew I was missing out on!

Since then I have become loyal to the Volkswagen brand, and I’m proud that I have chosen such a brand. After my first Polo I upgraded to a newer one, a 2002 Polo Match this time in black and no dents. Again, this little car proved highly reliable and was a good friend to me. After I got married I needed a slightly bigger and more powerful car, so I opted for a 2005 VW Golf GTi, in bright red. I still have this car, but I’m trading it in for a bigger car.

Next week I’ll be taking delivery of my brand new Volkswagen Passat CC, a truly beautiful car. It is practical, stylish and quite different. I went back to the same VW dealership as they appear to value my custom and are honest. I can’t see myself driving any other brand of vehicle; it would feel like I’m betraying a loyal friend. Long live Volkswagen and our friendship!
